Flu Shot Availability

ALCON,
The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has notified us that we will not be receiving the flu vaccine until mid November 2020. There are several options available for members to get their flu shot prior to the MDS receiving their allotment from DLA.
1. TR – For those with TRICARE Reserve Select, check with your Primary Care Provider to see if they have flu vaccine available in office or visit any participating retail pharmacy (https://militaryrx.express-scripts.com/find-pharmacy). There is no cost for the flu shot. If you do not have TRICARE Reserve Select, please consult your private insurance provider for coverage and limitations.
2. ART – Please consult your applicable Federal Employee Health Benefit (FEHB) plan website (https://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/healthcare/plan-information/plans/2020/state/ok) for more information. In most cases, there is no cost for the flu shot but check your plan website for details.
3. AGR – 72 MDG will be receiving their shipment approximately the same time the 507 MDS receives it as well. You can utilize TRICARE Prime at participating pharmacies (https://militaryrx.express-scripts.com/find-pharmacy) to get the flu shot at no cost.
For those choosing to get the flu shot at participating pharmacies – be sure to call the pharmacy first to:
- Verify the days and times you can come in for a vaccine
- See if there are any restrictions
- Make sure the pharmacy has the vaccine you need
- Make sure a pharmacist gives the vaccines and not a provider to avoid potential out-of-pocket costs
If you choose to obtain your flu shot in any of the above ways, please submit documentation to the 507 MDS org box (507MDS.SGA.MedicalDocuments@us.af.mil) so your record can be updated. Documentation must include:
- Lot #
- Manufacturer
- Date Given
- Name/Address of location flu shot was received
