4/20/20 Season Update
20 Apr 2020 by Kirk Dodson
Pallotti Lacrosse Family,
I recived the unfortunate news today that the MIAA has canceled the 2020 Lacrosse season. When we started practices last fall, I would have never imagined that our season would end up as 3 Scrimmages and 1 game. You all have put in so much work and we all saw the glimpses of greatness in our few opportunities against an opponent.
I feel the most for our Seniors- John and David. We are looking into a few options to send them off right.
1. Even though the season has been canceled, if we go back on 15 May we would be allowed to play games, but they wouldn’t count towards anything for the MIAA. Coach C will look into this further if it looks like a possibility.
2. Enter a team into the Shootout for Soldiers fundraising game. We would need to raise $750 to enter a team, but I don’t think we would have a difficult time raising the money for such a great cause. The Baltimore games are scheduled for the end of June, so there is a chance things could be back to a sort of normal by then.
3. An Alumni Game in the Fall/Winter. We would coordinate with John and David to determine when they may come home from College and schedule and Alumni game. If this is around Thanksgiving we can rent a turf field, if it is Christmas time we can look to rent an indoor facility.
There may be more options, but I want you all to know that we are looking into how to take care of our Pallotti Lax Family.
For those of you who are not Seniors I am keeping an eye out for the Maryland Lacrosse League (MLL) summer season. I am working with the Commissioner and it looks like they are going to have a Varsity and JV level of competition with games once a week at St. Mary’s turf field in Annapolis. More details will be put out when I know them
Stay safe, stay healthy, and don’t give up hope that we will back on the field together.
Coach Kirk
