Day 2 of the Level 2 Coaching Course, hosted by the Coach Education Unit at SSC Conference Hall, featured a series of insightful sessions led by experienced coach educators. The morning began with Coach Kaushalya Gajasinghe, who introduced biomechanics and its application in enhancing sports performance. He highlighted how understanding biomechanics can improve movement efficiency and prevent injury, providing valuable knowledge for coaches to implement in their training practices.

Next, Farnaz Navaz focused on the physical demands specific to cricket. Her session covered the skill-wise demands of the sport and how to design targeted training plans. She emphasized the importance of tailoring conditioning programs to meet the unique physical requirements of different cricketing skills, helping coaches better prepare athletes for high-performance environments.

In the afternoon, High-Performance Manager Ruwan Kalpage, a renowned figure in the cricketing world, led two sessions on spin bowling. In Spin Bowling – Session 1, Kalpage covered foundational techniques and the physical demands of spin bowling, using video analysis to demonstrate error detection and correction. The second session, Spin Bowling – Session 2, was particularly hands-on. Coaches were split into two groups, each working with two young cricketers. The task was for the coaches to provide skill training, design drills, and offer professional guidance tailored to the needs of the young bowlers. This practical experience allowed coaches to apply the concepts Kalpage had shared, focusing on real-time coaching, drill execution, and technique refinement.

Throughout the day, interactive games and activities reinforced the lessons taught, ensuring that theory was translated into practical coaching strategies. Overall, the day was a great success, with coaches gaining valuable insights and hands-on experience, further enhancing their professional development.
