The Coach Education Unit successfully hosted Day 3 of the Level 2 Coaching Course at the SSC Conference Hall, delivering an insightful and practical program led by esteemed Coach Educators. The day centered on enhancing the participants’ expertise in fielding and batting, blending theoretical knowledge with hands-on application.
The morning session was conducted by Lanka De Silva, a seasoned coach and former Sri Lankan cricketer. Session 1 focused on the demands and foundational techniques of fielding, supported by video analysis to highlight error detection and correction strategies. In Session 2, practical plans and drill execution were emphasized. Young players were actively involved, allowing the coaches to demonstrate their skills by running fielding drills. The Coach Educators assessed each participant’s ability to design and implement effective drills, ensuring that the coaches applied their learnings in a real-world context.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to batting, led by Saman Jayantha, another accomplished coach and former national cricketer. Session 1 mirrored the morning structure, covering the demands and foundational techniques of batting with a focus on video analysis for identifying and rectifying errors. Session 2 involved a practical component where the coaches worked with young players to execute batting drills. The Coach Educators evaluated the participants’ ability to plan and implement these drills, ensuring the application of effective coaching methods.
The day concluded with a comprehensive recap and reflection session led by Heshan De Mel, Head of Coach Education. His insightful summary reinforced the key takeaways from the day and provided valuable feedback to the participants, encouraging them to continuously refine their coaching techniques.
