The Coach Education Unit continued its comprehensive Level 2 Coaching Course at the SSC Conference Hall, delivering another day of high-quality learning and practical engagement for the participating coaches. Day 4 focused on the specialized disciplines of fast bowling and wicketkeeping, with sessions led by renowned and experienced professionals.

The morning began with a session on fast bowling, led by Omesh Wijesiriwardene, a distinguished coach known for his expertise in the field. In Session 1, Wijesiriwardene addressed the demands and essential techniques of fast bowling, using video analysis to demonstrate effective error detection and correction strategies. Session 2 transitioned into practical application, where the participants developed and executed practice plans, focusing on refining fast-bowling drills under expert guidance.

After lunch, the program shifted focus to wicketkeeping, with Lanka De Silva—a seasoned coach and former cricketer—taking charge. In Session 1, De Silva provided an in-depth exploration of the technical and physical demands of wicketkeeping, supported by video analysis to highlight areas for improvement and correction. Session 2 emphasized the creation and implementation of practice plans, offering participants an opportunity to design effective drills and enhance their practical coaching skills.

The day concluded with a recap and feedback session conducted by Coach Educator Chaminda Thotagamuwa. His thoughtful summary reinforced the day’s key lessons and provided valuable insights to help participants refine their coaching methodologies.

With its structured approach and expert-led sessions, Day 4 was a resounding success, further demonstrating the Coach Education Unit’s commitment to empowering coaches with the knowledge and skills necessary to elevate cricket coaching standards in Sri Lanka.
