On November 1st, 2024, the Coach Education Unit (CEU) will host the Knowledge Sharing Program for Major Club and Division 1 Schools Women’s Coaches at the High Perfomance Center in R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS). The session, led by Kaushalya Gajasinghe, aims to equip coaches with advanced insights and strategies that are essential for nurturing women cricketers.
Opening remarks from the CEU at 10:00 am will set the stage, highlighting the day’s focus on enhancing coaching standards and fostering collaboration across all levels of women’s cricket. This will be followed by a knowledge-sharing session with National Team Coaching Staff from 10:05 am to 10:35 am. Here, top-level insights on tactics, performance analysis, and game management will be shared, giving coaches the strategic “playbook” used in the national arena.
At 10:40 am, the U19 Team Coaching Staff will continue the discussion until 11:10 am, focusing on the development pathways for young women players, balancing technical skill-building with mental toughness to prepare future cricketing stars.
The CEU Presentation from 11:15 am to 12:00 pm will showcase cutting-edge methodologies in coaching, athlete assessment, and mentorship models tailored to women’s cricket. Attendees will gain structured techniques to enhance their coaching approaches and create a positive impact on players’ growth.
Following this, Dr. Hashan Amarathunga will conduct a session from 12:00 pm to 12:40 pm on Nutrition and Women Athlete Health & Wellbeing. With a focus on nutrients that sustain energy, aid recovery, and maintain peak performance, Dr. Amarathunga will delve into tailored nutrition plans essential for women athletes. He will cover hydration, essential vitamins, and nutrient timing, helping coaches guide players to optimal health and longevity on the field.
Closing remarks at 12:45 pm by the CEU will conclude the program, reinforcing the value of shared knowledge in advancing women’s cricket. This session is set to empower coaches with comprehensive insights, enhancing their ability to cultivate top-tier talent and resilient, skilled athletes.
